Driving a car with automatic transmission (i.e. with no clutch-pedal and no gear-stick as such) is becoming an increasingly popular and natural choice for town and city driving. Those who choose to drive automatic-transmission (usually just known as “automatic”) cars may do so because they have had disappointing and frustrating experiences with a manual car. Additionally, larger luxury cars are often automatic, and as people choose smaller cars for day-to-day driving, some may need to learn, or re-learn the manual gearbox.
Advantages of automatics are many, and include:
• Being able to keep both hands on the steering wheel most of the time
• Being able to pay more attention to the hazards on the road because you have less to think about whilst controlling the car
• Having the knowledge that you will always be in the correct gear
• Having the reassurance that it is very difficult to stall an automatic
